About Us

Our Team

Alexandra, Angelika, Fanni, Iliana, Jelena, Maggie, Miriam and Rebecca: We are a close-knit, experienced team and enjoy working together. Between us, we speak five languages: German, English, Hungarian, Bulgarian and Serbian.

We have many years of experience in childcare, and almost all of us are parents ourselves. This means we understand the joys and challenges of caring for children from both a professional and a personal perspective.

We are also supported by Nina, who is completing her voluntary social year with us and is a valued helping hand in our day-to-day work.

As our Administrative Manager, Iliana is responsible for enrolments, contracts, finances and other administrative matters.

Our Philosophy

At our childcare centre, every baby and toddler is seen as an individual, with their own needs, personality and pace of development. Our high caregiver-to-child ratio gives us the time to provide each child with the attention, reassurance and individual support they need to feel secure and thrive.

Our educational approach is inspired by Maria Montessori and Emmi Pikler, as well as psychomotor development and sensory integration. Above all, we believe in treating children with respect, patience and genuine attentiveness.

A close and trusting relationship with parents is an important part of our approach. Regular communication helps us understand each child’s needs and work together to provide consistent and individual care.

Young children are highly sensitive to the atmosphere around them. That is why a warm, respectful and supportive environment matters not only for the children, but also within our team. We value the stability of our long-standing team, as familiar and reliable caregivers help children build secure relationships and feel at home at Krabbelnest.

Educational Quality

Our educational activities are shaped by the children themselves – by their interests, individual development and the experiences they bring into the group – as well as by the seasons and events throughout the year.

Through continuous observation, planning and reflection, close communication with parents and within our team, and careful documentation of each child’s development, we make sure that every child receives the support they need at their individual stage of development.

Every member of our childcare team completes at least 20 hours of professional training each year, helping us continuously develop and maintain the quality of our educational work.

Our childcare groups are regularly inspected by the City of Vienna’s child and family services, licensed for up to 14 children per group and supported by the City of Vienna.

Our educational work follows the Wiener Bildungsplan and the Bundesländerübergreifenden Bildungsrahmenplan and is guided by the Wertekatalog (in German).

Our work is based on the following legal framework (in German):
das Wiener Tagesbetreuungsgesetz (Vienna Day Care Act)
die Wiener Tagesbetreuungverordnung (Vienna Day Care Regulation )
das Wiener Kindergartengesetz und -verordnung (Vienna Kindergarten Act and Regulation)
das Wiener Frühförderungsgesetz (Vienna Early Childhood Support Act)
